Democrat Troy Jackson won Maine’s U.S. Senate race, defeating Republican incumbent Senator Susan Collins, according to multiple reports.

PBS NewsHour reports that Collins conceded the race. The result gives Maine a Democratic senator after Collins held the seat for nearly three decades.

NPR characterized Jackson’s victory as an important gain in Democrats’ effort to retake the Senate majority. The supplied reports establish the change in Maine’s representation but do not provide a vote total or margin di victory.

The available source material also does not establish whether the result has been formally certified by election authorities, leaving those election-administration details unclear.
