Susan Saint James, the actress known for starring in the television series “McMillan & Wife” and “Kate & Allie,” died at age 80 on October 26, 2026. Variety and Deadline reported that her death was associated with pancreatic cancer, while a representative confirmed the death to People.

Saint James starred opposite Rock Hudson in “McMillan & Wife” and opposite Jane Curtin in the CBS sitcom “Kate & Allie,” roles that established her as a prominent television performer. The reports confirming her death did not specify where she died.

The Hollywood Reporter described Saint James as an Emmy winner who received eight Emmy nominations. Her television work was central to the accounts of her career following news of her death.

Her film credits included “Love at First Bite,” “How to Beat the High Cost of Living” and “Carbon Copy,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Forbes Business also identified “Love at First Bite” among the works associated with her career.

Variety reported that Saint James’s family shared a statement about her death with People, but the supplied report does not provide the statement’s contents. Variety and Deadline both linked the reported cause of death to pancreatic cancer; the available material does not establish when that diagnosis was made.
