Netflix has announced Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, a prequel spinoff set substantially earlier in the franchise timeline and planned for release in 2028.
Variety reports that Netflix has officially ordered the show to series. The publication also says the announcement was made as part of Stranger Things Day, the annual celebration associated with the franchise.
The Verge describes Other Worlds as a live-action spinoff and says the story will go back in time considerably. The available reporting does not provide a cast, episode count, production team or more specific release date.
